Republica by Patrick Norguet
The French bistro chair is to Paris what the red phone booth is to London and the yellow taxi is to New York: a symbol. French manufacturer Drucker started making these rattan chairs in 1885 and has created new designs ever since, to maintain the balance between the tradition of the handmade and the demands of modern aesthetics. The latest designer to have risen to the challenge is Patrick Norguet.

Norguet's idea was to keep the chair as simple as possible, so that a piece of French style could be brought into domestic kitchens and dining rooms as well as to cafes, restaurants, and of course bistros. Being stackable, it is also a salute to the daily sight of the cafe owner who piles up his chairs as high as possible at closing time.
