Numero 74: classic kids' design

Friday 23 November 2012

Numero 74 is a new brand specialising in hand-crafted textiles and vintage furniture for children. Created by two cousins - one French, one Italian - it sources classic pieces of kid-sized furniture, designed by names from Harry Bertoia and Luigi Colani to Jean ProuvĂ©, from all over the world, keeping each one in its original state.

The company also oversees the entire manufacturing process of its textiles, which are made in Thailand in women's cooperatives. Wool or cashmere bedcovers are knitted by hand, linen cushions are embroidered with sequins and bells, and cotton bedlinen is painted. "Before being sent out our textiles are washed, ironed, folded, and perfumed with a few drops of n.74, a true scent of childhood, still top secret."
