Droog Lab is currently presenting an exhibition of 26 works copying Chinese design in Guangzhou - the notorious epicentre of design's copycat culture.

As China is working hard to shed its reputation, Droog shows copying as an opportunity to add something, upgrade, and in the end introduce novelty to a product. Each design proposal translates an essence of the original object.

Co-founded and directed by Renny Ramakers, Droog Lab aims to stimulate innovation and debate in design, as well as defining the next generation of global design through the investigation of local contexts.

The New Original will run until 19th April at the Hi space zhen Jia shopping mall in Guangzhou, China.
