The Arthur Slenk Collection by NLXL

Thursday 6 June 2013

Dutch wallpaper brand NLXL has launched a new range developed from a seven-year sheet music collage project by artist Arthur Slenk.

Twenty years ago, Slenk discovered two boxes of sheet music written by an amateur orchestra between 1872 and 1941. Over the course of seven years, he produced 114 letter-size collages from this archive material.

From these, NLXL has selected eight designs, using advanced scanning technology to translate the details of the hand-written papers into wallpaper.

The result is a historical document for walls. The slightly yellowed paper, fingerprint marks, ink stains and creases of the original scores have all been faithfully preserved in the wallpaper.

NLXL's product catalogue includes Piet Boon's Concrete Wallpaper, Scrapwood Wallpaper by Piet Hein Eek and Merci's Brooklyn Tins Wallpaper.
